What is Equine & Canine Sports Massage and how does ESM Therapy Work?
Equine & Canine Sports Massage, or ESM, is the therapeutic application of professional massage techniques developed and used
by human athletes, but applied to horses and dogs. From a horse’s or dog’s perspective, imagine being sore and not being able to reach the pain. Rigorous training, stall or crate confinement, eventing and transporting all cause stress to horses and dogs.
ESM is a non-invasive, hands-on technique to reduce tension, stress and muscle fatigue, the main causes of muscular problems. ESM increases circulation and diminishes muscle spasms, which reduces the risk of injuries from repetitive training and rigorous competition, pleasure riding, breeding, transporting, and growing. ESM can even help long-standing injuries, and prevent future injuries from hindering your horse’s or dog’s career and well being.
ESM has proven its ability to increase equine athletic performance up to 20%, giving both horse and rider or dog and handler the competitive edge by competing at full potential. This also allows the animal’s body to maintain a healthy state of balance, adding to the life and value of the horse or dog. ESM benefits all breeds at any age.
