Massage
Certified Equine Massage Therapist Deborah Londeau-Sorenson, owner of Equitherapies Inc, starts
her massages with the horse’s head and muzzle.Once a horse finds out massage feels good, they allow a deeper touch. The results are usually within minutes of a session with Deborah.

Massage techniques range from Tapotement(left) to kneading Pettrisage motions (right) to deep compression and acupressure.
A typical horse massage lasts approximately 90 minutes, as Deborah works all the major muscle groups applying massage techniques, acupressure, myo-fascia release, cranial sacral work, reiki, and even some rolfing while she continues to work the horse’s meridians as well.
This is what Deborah does. She travels to stables throughout North America and Worldwide, applying massage therapy on horses and dogs and teaching this valuable therapy to others. “It’s great,” says Deborah, 53, of North Atlanta, Georgia. “You’re massaging the horse, and then you see the eyes soften, relaxed breathing as the body begins to de-toxify.” My students are always amazed at how quickly they are able to see results once they begin to learn and apply the techniques . Ten years ago, Deborah’s career would have been unthinkable. Equine & Canine massage therapy was virtually unheard of in the horse and dog world. Now the practice is very popular.
“Massage relieves tension, increases performance and treats and prevents injury,” Deborah says. “This is good maintenance therapy,” she adds, “you don’t wait until the horse or dog strains a muscle or tendon, or sprains a ligament. You do this before that happens as a preventitive and it works.”
Deborah has massaged pets, rescued dogs, show dogs, and even K-9 ’s with the Fort Myers Police Department. “Any performance animal can benefit from this therapy as well as the family pet and especially older dogs,” she says.
